- The Democratic Workers Party believe that the current climate crisis would not exist were it not for the fact that capitalism drives the unnecessary mass production of goods by factories worldwide, which we are told we must have in a so called “free society”. The industrial activities that capitalism depends upon have raised atmospheric carbon dioxide levels from 280 parts per million to 400 parts per million in the last 150 years.
- The Democratic Workers Party believe that the all pervasive drug and crime problems in the UK today are fuelled by drug dealers who’s only aim is to get rich and live what has become “the American Dream” in our own back yards. Avarice, it seems has no boundaries in our society anymore – and where avarice goes, lack of morals and social equality go also.
- The Democratic Workers Party believe that our National Health Service, once the envy of the world has and still is being sold off piecemeal by the Private Finance Initiative and by American conglomerates desperate to get their hands on this rich source of income.
- The Democratic Workers Party believe that we can be a self sustaining nation if we simply take time to help one another, rather than looking at one another as a potential meal ticket to further our own wealth or position.
Figures from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) reveal the UK produces 53% of what it needs (2018 figures) to feed itself, compared with 74% 30 years ago.
Why? Well, 30 years ago, the spectre of rampant capitalism and banking deregulation, imported from the United States by Margaret Thatcher, had not yet had time to filter through into every facet of our society. We are told by current government that the UK cannot be self sufficient when it comes to food, but this is a myth perpetrated by the capitalist system, which tells us that jobs are at risk if we do not trade with other nations.
